Robert Mondavi Oakville Cabernet — 1996

We finally opened one of our 1996 Robert Mondavi Oakville cabernets.  Honestly, we were disappointed.  It was definitely drinkable, but it didn’t age as well as we would have liked.  The flavor was okay, but the body of the wine has collapsed.  It’s just a little too weak, as is immediately obvious when you hold a glass up to a light and see that it has lost much the dark purple color you expect for a Napa cabernet.  Don’t buy any of this at auction, and it you happen to have some on hand, I suggest you pop it and open it.  We’ll update this post after we open another bottle.
